Iris Straube
Communications Officer
As a Communications Specialist, Iris supports the mission of Immigrant Connection by sharing the stories of those who have braved change to embark on new journeys in the US.
“We break through assumptions and make meaningful connections when we learn the stories of our neighbors. My desire is to celebrate our immigrant neighbors by asking them to share their own remarkable stories. As we share these experiences, we have golden opportunities to live through new chapters together.”
A life-long educator having taught primarily high school English and Spanish, Iris currently serves as a Spanish Interpreter and Translator for her school district. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Florida International University and is working towards completing her Master of Education from Bethel University in St. Paul, MN. Born in Colombia and raised in Miami, FL, Iris presently lives in North Carolina with her husband Edgar and children Maia, Lucas and Noah Luciano.
