Diane Eason Contreras
National Legal Director
As National Legal Director, Diane leads IC National’s legal strategy, ensuring DOJ-accredited representatives and sites across the network receive the guidance, supervision, training, and support necessary to provide high-quality legal services. Her role bridges legal quality with the relationships, systems, and organizational practices that strengthen the network and expand access to immigration legal services.
Diane is an immigration attorney and nonprofit leader with 20 years of experience supporting immigrant and refugee communities and strengthening the organizations that serve them. She began her legal career in California and subsequently led the Children’s Office at the South Texas Pro Bono Asylum Representation Project (ProBAR), a project of the American Bar Association, where she represented children in immigration custody and recruited and supported a network of pro bono attorneys. After returning to her hometown, Diane led Immigrant and Refugee Services at YWCA Tulsa, overseeing legal services, refugee case management, adult education, and interpretation and translation services. Her experience also includes grant writing, program design, and evaluation at CAP Tulsa, as well as community-led grantmaking at Tulsa Area United Way.
Diane earned her JD from California Western School of Law, with a concentration in International Law, and her BA from the University of Oklahoma. She lives in Oklahoma with her family.
