National Legal Director (Full-Time | Remote)
Immigrant Connection is seeking a National Legal Director to provide national leadership, oversight, and accountability for the legal training, Department of Justice (DOJ) accreditation preparation, technical legal support, supervision, and quality assurance systems of the Immigrant Connection Legal Network.
Immigrant Connection (IC) is a national nonprofit immigration legal services network committed to expanding access to trusted immigration legal services across the United States. Through a growing network of Local IC Legal Sites, DOJ Accredited Representatives, attorneys, and national support systems, IC helps immigrant families receive trusted legal support with dignity, excellence, and care.
This role will lead and oversee an existing national legal team made up of part-time attorneys and experienced DOJ Accredited Representatives. While the position carries significant responsibility and requires both strategic leadership and hands-on legal expertise, the National Legal Director will not be building this work alone. Rather, this person will provide direction, coordination, supervision, and accountability for a legal team already serving the network, while helping strengthen and scale IC’s legal infrastructure for the future.
The National Legal Director will serve as the senior legal authority for representative readiness, legal training standards, technical legal assistance, legal quality control, and network-wide legal practice expectations. The right candidate will be able to build systems, develop curriculum, train and coach legal practitioners, assess legal competency, respond to complex immigration legal questions, supervise legal team members, and help ensure that immigrant clients are protected through strong legal standards and accountable practice.
Key areas of leadership include:
-
Assessing, coaching, and determining readiness for prospective and current DOJ Accredited Representatives
-
Overseeing IC’s legal training pathway, continuing education, and representative development
-
Leading the legal side of DOJ accreditation and renewal preparation
-
Providing and supervising technical legal assistance across the network
-
Strengthening legal supervision, quality assurance, risk management, and case-review systems
-
Developing legal resources, templates, practice advisories, and knowledge-management tools
-
Leading legal content for national trainings, webinars, convenings, and conferences
-
Supervising and developing members of the national legal team
-
Building scalable legal systems that support consistency, accountability, and long-term network growth
Qualified candidates must have a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, an active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, and significant experience practicing immigration law, especially in humanitarian, family-based, adjustment, naturalization, and related affirmative immigration benefits matters. Experience with DOJ Recognition and Accreditation, nonprofit immigration legal services, legal training, supervision, quality control, and network-based or multi-site legal models is strongly preferred.
This is a remote, full-time exempt position with occasional travel for trainings, conferences, site visits, team meetings, and national events. Because this role supports representatives and sites across the country, occasional evening or adjusted-hour availability may be required.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
